GLOBAL ODYSSEY 2010: BLOG # 1

Global Odyssey 2010 is exactly what it says it is, a blog about our trip round the world (which will hopefully beat the weekend we took on the Outer Banks in 2000 after we got married). Possibly wiser, certainly older, we are plotting our own Age of (Senior Years) Discovery, first by sailing with Holland-America’s Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal, down western South America and through the Beagle Channel to southern Africa, hitting various Indian Ocean islands en route to India and Southeast Asia, and then to Vancouver, British Colombia via China, Japan, and Russia. Then we take the Norwegian Pearl up Alaska’s Inside Passage, and finally, drive back home cross country. We won’t promise much blogging for the last third of the trip.

Face it, in the amount of ground we’re covering, there have to be a few interesting highlights, and we’ll promise you to try to keep the boring bits to a minimum!

Understand that this blog is an extension of our trip, and not vice versa, but if we get any reasonable questions, we’ll field them as we can. Maybe we can save you some grief on your own future jaunt, and I’m sure (sorry, we’re sure) that some of you can make suggestions (hopefully before the fact) which will enhance our experience. So tune in when the spirit moves to see what we’re up – or down – to ….
